From South Africa to Madeira — a story of family, passion, and detail.

My name is Herman de Jager. I was born and lived almost my entire life in South Africa, always an entrepreneur, always with oil on my hands and a passion for cars, motorbikes, and boats.

My wife Rosa was born in Madeira. She left the island at the age of six when her parents emigrated to South Africa in search of a better life. We got married 23 years ago, raised two children, and when they finished school, we made a decision: it was time to start over. We came to Madeira to take care of Rosa's father and build something new — something worth leaving to our children.

Why detailing?

I have always detailed my own cars and motorbikes. There's something therapeutic about going out to the garage, grabbing the right products, and transforming a dull surface into a perfect mirror. I can't quite explain why — but anyone who does it knows exactly what I'm talking about.

When I arrived in Madeira and saw the number of rental vehicles, fleets, and enthusiasts on the island, I realized there was room for something different: truly professional products, with real technical support, delivered by someone who uses them and believes in them.

• 3D Car Care — a global reference American brand, with professional solutions for washing, decontamination, paint correction, ceramics, and finishing
• Nasiol — Turkish specialist in nanotechnology applied to detailing, with products for automotive, marine, and aviation

We operate in mainland Portugal, the islands, and Amazon Spain — supporting professionals, studios, workshops, and enthusiasts who do not accept mediocrity.

And the name DetailDawg?

That credit goes to my children. They always called me "Dawg" — "Hey Dawg, what have you been up to today?" — and when it was time to name the company, the answer was obvious. DetailDawg is us: family, authenticity, and an obsession with detail.
